Cairns
Siamo stati a Cairns 4 giorni, 3 per la città’ e uno a Green Island, a fare snorkeling nella grande barriera corallina.
We were in Cairns for 4 days, we spent 3 days around the city and one diving in the Great Barrier Reef.
Dopo aver sofferto il freddo di Alice Springs e Uluru siamo arrivati a Cairns in aereo (398 au$). La temperatura della città’ era stupenda, 25-30 gradi di giorno e 20 di notte e considerato che a giugno e’ inverno in Australia, era perfetto.
After we suffered the coldness in Alice Springs and Uluru we arrived in Cairns by plane (398au$). The temperature in the city was amazing, 25-30 degrees during the day and 20 degrees during night and considered that in June is winter in Australia, it was perfect.
Lungo la spiaggia c’era un gruppo di persone intente a costruire sculture si sabbia mentre un fotografo scattava alcune foto.
Along the seaside there was a group of people that was building some sand scultures while a photographer was shopping some photos.
Di fronte al mare, a pochi passi dal centro della città, c’e’ un bel parco dove riposarsi.
In front of the sea, just some steps from the city center, there is a beautiful park where everyone may rest.
La città’ e’ meravigliosa, fra tutte quelle che ho visitato questa e’ quella dove resterei per più’ tempo.
The city is beautiful, among all the cities I have seen this one is the one where I would stay longer.
Dopo i 4 giorni passati qui abbiamo preso un volo diretti a Sydney.
After 4 days we spent here we took a flight headed to Sydney.
Uluru
Dopo 6 ore di pullman partendo da Alice Springs, con qualche stop nelle aree di sosta in cui si vedeva nient’altro che deserto, siamo arrivati ad Uluru. Per avvicinarsi al monolite per poi arrivare ad Alice Springs ci sono vari metodi: prendendo il GHAN, un treno che parte dalla stazione di Adelaide diretto a Darwin con stop in varie città, tra cui Coober Pedy e Alice Springs (il viaggio da Adelaide fino a Darwin impiega 3 giorni e ci sono solo due treni a settimana, i prezzi sono un po elevati se siete dei backpackers – ora, da Aprile a Ottobre, da Adelaide ad Alice il prezzo del biglietto dell’ultima classe e’ 373 au $, da domenica a mercoledi, da Adelaide a Darwin il prezzo del biglietto e’ di 746 au $ – ma e’ comunque una bella occasione per vedere l’outback senza correre troppo rischi) il viaggio in macchina che impiegherebbe parecchi giorni, o come ultima opzione lo spostamento in aereo che vi costerebbe un po dato che Quantas e’ l’unica compagnia aerea con voli da/a Alice Springs e Uluru. Ecco quanto spendereste più’ o meno per ogni biglietto aereo: Adelaide – Alice Springs 254 au $ compreso di tasse e di un bagaglio, Alice Springs – Cairns con uno stop di dieci minuti a Ayers Rock (l’aeroporto di Uluru) 390 au $ compreso di tasse e di un bagaglio.
Il nostro biglietto per l’ingresso al parco e’ costato 250 dollari e includeva il viaggio a Kata Tjuta e Uluru e un barbecue fatto davanti a Uluru con tanta roba da mangiare e da bere poco prima del tramonto, appena la luce del sole fa diventare il monolite ancora più’ rosso.
After 6 hour bus leaving from Alice Springs, with some stop in the service areas in which we could see nothing but desert, we arrived at Uluru. To get closer to the monolith to then get to Alice Springs there are several ways: taking the GHAN, a train leaving from Adelaide station headed to Darwin that stops in many cities, including Coober Pedy and Alice Springs (the trip takes takes 3 days to get from Adelaide to Darwin and there are only two trains every week, the prices are a bit high if you are backpackers – now, from April to October, from Adelaide to Alice Springs the ticket price for the last class is 373 au $, from sunday to wednesday, from Adelaide to Darwin the ticket price is 746 au $ – but it’s however a good chance to see the outback without taking too many risks) the trip by car would take a lot of days, or as last option there would be the travel by plane that would cost a bit given that Quantas is the only company with flights from/to Alice Springs and Uluru. Here’s how you would spend more or less for each airfare: Adelaide – Alice Springs 254 au $ included of taxes and one baggage, Alice Springs – Cairns with one stop of ten minutes at Ayers Rock (the Uluru airport) 390 au $ included of taxes and one baggage.
Our ticket to enter to the national park costed 250 australian dollars and included the trip to Kata Tjuta and Uluru and a barbecue done right in front of Uluru with plenty of foods and drinks a little before of the sunset, when the sun light does the monolith even more red.
Uluru e’ sacro per tutti gli aborigeni e non vogliono che nessuno ci cammini sopra o la scali, nonostante tutto un sacco di gente ogni giorno sale il sentiero che porta in cima al monolite, strettissimo e ripidissimo, col rischio di cadere per centinaia di metri in qualsiasi momento.
Uluru is sacred to aboriginal people and they don’t want anyone to step or climb it, in spite of that every day a lot of people follow the path to the top of the monolith, so narrow and steep, risking to fall for hundreds of metres in every moment.
In qualche ora si gira attorno al monolite insieme alla guida che spiega alcune cose sugli aborigeni, la storia e le leggende legate a Uluru.
In some hours you turn around the monolith with the guide that explains some things about the aboriginals, the history and the legends about Uluru.
Se guardate bene vedrete una persona piccolissima sulla cima del monolite. Salire così’ in alto e’ pericoloso, un passo falso e si rotola per centinaia di metri.
If you look closer you’ll see a person on the top of the monolith. To climb so high is dangerous, a wrong step and you roll for hundred metres.

Attorno a Uluru non c’e’ nulla per centinaia di chilometri (Alice Springs dista circa 400 km)
Gli animali che vivono qui attorno si sono abituati a sopravvivere con poca acqua o poco cibo, come i cammelli e i canguri.
Il canguro per esempio si aiuta spostandosi con dei salti, cosa che gli permette di percorrere lunghe distanze e facilita la respirazione, facendo muovere i polmoni ad ogni salto e quindi risparmiando energie sulle lunghe distanze.
Around Uluru there is nothing for miles and miles (ALice Springs is far about 248 miles – 400 Km)
The animals that live around here have got accustomed to survive with just a little of water or food, like camels or kangaroos.
The kangaroo for example helps himself moving with jumps, being able to cover large distances and it makes easier to breath, making the lungs moving for every jump and so allowing them to save energies on the long distances.

Here’s where the aboriginal people used to live a long time ago, close to the only source of water in Uluru.
Finita la visita guidata attorno a Uluru, alle 5 circa e’ stato preparato l’occorrente per il buffet e il barbecue.
La roba da mangiare era tanta e buona, c’erano vino bianco e rosso e la vista del tramonto su Uluru proprio davanti a noi.
When the tour around Uluru ended, about five o’clock our organizer started to set the table and all the stuff for the barbecue and the buffet.
The food was amazing, there were white and red wine and the view of the sunset on Uluru right in front of us.
Kata Tjuta
Kata Tjuta e Uluru sono i due monoliti che si trovano nell’outback australiano, distanti alcuni chilometri uno dall’altro. Entrambi distano circa 400 km da Alice Springs, i pullman che si spostano dalla città’ fanno un solo viaggio al giorno dato che per arrivare qui partendo da Alice Springs si impiegano circa 6 ore per l’andata e 6 per il ritorno. Ci sono vari tipi di tour, da uno a tre giorni, ma noi abbiamo scelto quello di un solo giorno: si parte la mattina e si torna la sera verso mezzanotte. Per i tour che durano più’ di un giorno si dorme in ostello: davanti a Uluru c’e’ il secondo ostello più’ caro del mondo, l’unica consolazione e’ che uscendo in terrazzo si vede il monolite vicinissimo. Il nostro biglietto per l’ingresso al parco e’ costato 250 dollari e includeva il viaggio a Kata Tjuta e Uluru e un barbecue fatto davanti a Uluru con tanta roba da mangiare e da bere poco prima del tramonto, appena la luce del sole fa diventare il monolite ancora più’ rosso.
Kata Tjuta and Uluru are the two monoliths located in the australian outback, far some kilometres from each other. They both are about 400 Km from Alice Springs, the buses leaving from the city have just one ride by day given that in order to get here starting from Alice Springs it takes 6 hour to go and 6 more to come back.There are divergent types of tour, from one to three days, but we chose the one day tour: it starts in the morning and it takes you back around midnight. For the tour lasting more then one day you sleep in a hostel: in front of Uluru there in the second most expensive hostel in the world, the only consolation is that going out in the terrace you can see the monolith so close. Il pullman si e’ fermato un’ora di fronte a Kata Tjuta cosi’ abbiamo avuto la possibilità’ di vederla.
The bus stopped one hour in front of Kata Tjuta so we had the possibility to see it.
Camel Ride
Il primo giorno che siamo arrivati ad Alice Springs abbiamo deciso di andare su un cammello, così abbiamo chiesto informazioni all’ostello dove alloggiavamo (Alice Lodge) e il ragazzo alla reception ha chiamato il Pyndan camel tracks. In circa due ore un furgoncino ci e’ venuto a prendere proprio di fronte all’ostello portandoci poco fuori Alice Springs, dove inizia il deserto, e li, in una piccola proprietà, c’erano 6 cammelli. I loro nomi sono Doc, Betty, Morgana, Odin, Trillion e Greyhound.

The first day we arrived at Alice Springs we decided to have a ride on a camel, so we asked for information to the hostel where we were (Alice Lodge) and the reception’s guy called the Pyndan camel tracks. In about two hours a van came to pick us up right in front of the hostel taking us a bit outside Alice Springs, where the desert starts, and there, in a little property, there were 6 camels. Their names are Doc, Betty, Morgana, Odin, Trillion and Greyhound.

Se decidete di andare a cammello nel pomeriggio, portatevi una felpa e dei calzoni lunghi o qualcosa di pesante da mettervi addosso, perché’ durante l’inverno australiano ad Alice Springs e Uluru può fare molto freddo. Noi siamo stati li a meta’ giugno e di giorno erano 10-15 gradi, di notte la temperatura calava a -2 gradi.
If you decide to ride the camels in the afternoon, take with you a jumper and some long trousers or some heavy cloths to wear, because during australian winter in Alice Springs and Uluru might be really cold. We were there in the middle of June and during day it was 10-15 degrees, during night the temperaure decreased till -2 degrees.
Di fronte alla fila di cammelli c’e un ragazzo che li guida, li fa alzare a abbassare e aiuta tutti a salire e scendere dai cammelli.
In front of the queue of the camels there’s a man that leads them, make them stand up and get down and helps everyone to get on or off the camels.
Non pensavo che i cammelli fossero così alti. Sono sempre stato abituato a vederli solo in foto e non vedevo davvero l’ora di cavalcarne uno. Appena sali su uno di loro e si alza vieni spinto in alto in un attimo e poi per un ora oscilli a destra e sinistra, con il tuo cammello che ogni tanto morde delle foglie o dell’erba al volo nel tentativo di mangiare qualcosa.
I didn’t think camels to be so high. I was always used to see them in a photograph and I really was looking forward to riding one, As soon as you jump on one of them, it stands up and you are pushed upward in a rush and then for one hour you swing on the right and on the left, with your camel that stops every now and then trying to bite some leaves or some grass just to eat something.
I cammelli vengono nutriti ogni sera e se si sceglie il turno della sera ai clienti viene data l’opportunità’ di dare da mangiare agli animali.
The camels are fed during night and if you choose to ride in the late afternoon the owner allows you to feed the animals.
Alla fine del tour si viene condotti in questa stanza per bere qualcosa, guardare le foto e gli oggetti nella stanza o comprare un souvenir.
At the end of the tour all the people are lead to this room to drink something, to take a loot to the photos and the items in the room or to buy a souvenir.
Alice Springs
Dopo due mesi di lavoro a Kingston era ora di andare via. Il volo per Alice Springs e’ partito da Adelaide a ci sono volute circa tre ore per arrivare. Nonostante mi aspettassi che li facesse caldo, la temperatura media era di 15-18 gradi durante il giorno e -2 gradi durante la notte.
After two months working in Kingston it was time to leave. The flight to Alice Springs departed from Adelaide and it took about three hours to get there. Despite I was expecting some hot weather, the average temperature was between 15-18 degrees during the day and -2 during the night.
La citta’ e’ molto piccola e in meno di un giorno chiunque e’ in grado di vedere le cose piu’ interessanti, ma il centro cittadino e’ comunque meraviglioso, ovunque ci sono negozi dove comprare oggetti tipici e manufatti aborigeni e i cibi particolari abbondano in ogni angolo, come la carne di cammello.
The city is very little and in less than one day anyone is able to see the most interesting things, but the city centre is anyway amazing, everywhere there are shops in which you can buy souvenirs or aborigenal artifacts and characteristic foods are in every corner, like the camel meat.

Noi alloggiavamo all’ Alice Lodge, un ostello molto carino poco fuori dal centro della citta’. Tramite l’ostello siamo stati in grado di prenotare la cavalcata a cammello e nel giro di qualche ora un bus ci e’ venuto a prendere all’entrata per portarci appena fuori dalla citta’, al Pyndan camel tracks.
We stayed at Alice Lodge, a very nice hostel just outside the city centre. Thanks to the hostel we were able to book the camel ride and within a few hours from the booking a bus came in front of the hostel to pick us up to take us outside the city, at Pyndan camel tracks.
Nomads on Murray
Quasi due mesi passati al Kingston on Murray. Ho scritto questo post il 13 giugno, nel tavolo della sala dell’ostello, ma so che quando lo rileggero’ poco prima di pubblicarlo, pensero’ a tutta la gente che ho conosciuto li, e quanto mi manca.
Almost two months spent at the Kingston on Murray. I wrote this post the 13th of june, in the sitting room hostel’s table, but I know that when I will read again it before I publish it, I will tink about all the people I met there, and how much I miss all them.
Nonostante i 13 topi catturati nelle camere in meno di due mesi, l’acqua gialla dei bagni e della cucina (docce comprese) che viene presa dal lago accanto all’ostello, l’assenza di acqua potabile eccetto per il rubinetto da cui esce l’acqua di un’enorme cisterna riempita con l’acqua piovana (quindi semi potabile), la lavatrice, l’asciugatrice, internet e il trasporto in citta’ a pagamento, l’affitto settimanale per le camerate di 155 $(da 4 a 6 persone per stanza) e per le camere doppie di 175 $ a settimana e che la gente venga attirata qui con la promessa di un lavoro 6 giorni su 7 ma poi resta la prima settimana minimo senza lavorare, i migliori ricordi che ho dell’Australia li devo a questo posto.
Despite the 13 mice caught in the bedrooms in less than two months, the yellow water of the bathrooms and of the kitchen (shower included) that is taken directly from the lake close to the hostel, the lack of drinking water except for the sink where water from a big cistern fullfilled by rainwater comes out (so half drinkable), the washing machine, the dryer, the internet and the transport to the city aren’t free, the weekly rent for the dorm of 155 $(from 4 to 6 people each room) and for a double of 175 $ weekly and the people is attracted here with the promise of works 6 days on 7 just to wait one week at least with no work at all, the best memories I have of Australia belong o this place.
L’ostello fornisce pero’ posate, piatti, pentole e tutto quello che serve per cucinare, il trasporto a lavoro e’ sempre assicurato e la gente dell’ostello e’ davvero piacevole. Nella reception potete acquistare coca cola e birra a un prezzo economico, inoltre nella stanza c’e’ un computer connesso a internet, la connessione si paga 1 dollaro ogni mezz’ora. E cosa molto importante, la manager dell’ostello si occupa di cercarvi lavoro, qualunque esso sia.
The hostel provides forks, spoons and knives, dishes , pans and everything you need to cook, the transport to work is always granted and people in the hostel are really pleasant. In the reception you can buy cokes and beer for a cheap price, moreover in the room there is a computer connected to internet, the connection costs 1 dollar every half hour. And more important thing, the manager of the hostel helps you to find a job, whatever it is.
Nella cucina e nella sala ci sono 2 frigo a 3 ante ciascuno, in cui mettere le proprie buste col cibo e un freezer abbastanza grande, in piu’ un’intera stanza e’ dedicata al cibo normale e alle scatole con le posate e le cose da cucinare.
In the kitchen and in the sitting room there are 2 fridges with 3 windows for each one, in which you can put your food’s bags and a freezer quite big, moreover there’s a whole room where you can drop your bags, food and boxes with dishes and kitchen’s stuff.
The washing machine costs 3 dollars, the dryer 2, but the water used in the yellow one from the lake. The dryer has three levels of heat, if you set the highest your clothes will burn and some big brown spots will appear on each one of them. I learnt that the first time I dryed my clothes, sacrificing all my hard rock’s t-shirts from USA, a pair of jeans and all the underpants I had.
Dietro alla reception c’e’ la sala film, piena di VHS e DVD da vedere in qualsiasi momento. Alla tv e’ possibile attaccare un hard disk in modo da vedere film o serie tv. Grazie alla tv a pagamento e’ possibile vedere molto sport. Molti backpackers,soprattutto gli inglesi, a volte si svegliano alla mattina presto per vedere le partite di calcio. Dato che qui attorno non c’e’ molto da vedere o da fare molta gente passa la maggior parte del proprio tempo libero li.
Behind the reception there’s the movie room, full of VHS and DVD to see whenever you want. It’s possible to connect a hard drive to the television to see movies or tv series. Thanks to pay tv it’s possible to see a lot of sport. Several backpackers, especially the english people, wake up in the early morning just to see the football matches. Given that around here there’s nothing to see nor to do many people spend their free time there.
Se siete fortunati troverete lavori davvero buoni qui. Un ragazzo che e’ in ostello con me ora lavora 6 giorni su 7 in un posto dove deve lavare e caricare zucche in delle casse. Anche se lavora dalle 10 alle 12 ore ogni giorno guadagna in media 200 dollari al giorno. Per 4 settimane ho lavorato in enormi campi di alberi di mandorle. Il lavoro consisteva nel potare i rami rotti, sporgenti o troppo bassi, con una piccola sega in mano mentre camminavamo tutto il giorno, ascoltando l’ipod e facendo tanti chilometri. La prima pausa era alle 11 e la seconda alle 13.30 circa. Il lavoro iniziava alle 8 e finiva alle 15.30. La paga giornaliera era molto buona e non spendendo soldi ne in sigarette ne in alcool in un mese siamo riusciti a risparmiare abbastanza da continuare il viaggio tranquillamente.
If you’re lucky you’ll find really good jobs here. A guy who is in the hostel with me is now working 6 days on 7 in a place where he has to wash and load in bins pumpkins. Even if he works from 10 to 12 hours by day he earns an average amount of 200 dollars by day. For 4 weeks I worked in huge fields of almond trees. The work consisted in pruning broken branches, protruding or too low ones, with a little saw in the hand while we were walking all the day long, listening to ipod and doing so many kilometres. The first break was at 11 and the second at about 13.30. The work used to start at 8 o’clock and finished at 15.30. The daily pay was really good and given that we didn’t spend nothing for cigarettes or alcool we have been able to save enough to keep on travelling carelessly.

Australian Football
Le settimane in ostello passano a una velocita’ incredibile. Dopo sette mesi passati a lavorare e a girare l’australia senza incontrare o conoscere realmente nessuno da ricordare, ci siamo fermati al Kingston on Murray, un piccolo ostello a Kingston, 3 ore di distanza da Adelaide, dove la manager e’ in grado di trovare lavoro ai backpackers e di fornirgli un trasporto al lavoro. Qui attorno non c’e’ niente, ne un cinema o una discoteca, solo paesaggi infinti, meravigliosi, aria fresca e tanta natura. Del viaggio in Australia non mi ricordero’ i posti meravigliosi, le citta’ che ho visitato o la dozzina di aerei presi, ma le persone che ho conosciuto in questi due mesi in ostello, che hanno reso il viaggio un po piu’ interessante.
The weeks in the hostel go by in an incredible rush. After seen months spent working and travelling australia without meeting or really knowing someone to remember, we have stopped at Kingston on Murray, a little hostel in Kingston, 3 hours from Adelaide, where the manager is able to provide jobs to the backpackers and to take them to work. Around here there’s nothing at all, not a cinema nor a disco – nightclub, only infinite landscapes, amazing, fresh air and a lot of nature. About the travel in Australia I will not remember the marvelous places, le cities I’ve visited or the dozen flights I’ve taken, but the people I’ve met these two months in the hostel, that were able to make the travel a bit more interesting.
Un sabato pomeriggio siamo andati a una partita di football a vedere due squadre giocare, i ragazzi avevano circa 16-17 anni e l’ingresso costava 3 dollari. Il campo e’ abbastanza vicino all’ostello e li accanto c’e’ il lago, un piccolo parco e alcune strutture per i pic nic, fornite di tutto quello che serve per fare un barbecue. L’uso delle strutture e del gas e’ totalmente gratis.
One saturday for the afternoon we went to a football match to see two team playing, the boys were 16-17 years old and the entry cost 3 dollars. The field is quite close to the hostel and at some steps to that there’s the lake, a little park and some structures useful for pic nics, provided for everithing you need to have a barbecue. Everyone is allowed to use the structures and the gas is totally free.
Il football australiano sembra essere privo di qualsiasi regola: non ci sono protezioni per i giocatori e ogni membro della squadra puo’ lanciarsi sugli avversari per togliergli la palla o per rallentarli. Quel giorno ho assistito a una cosa del genere, ecco alcune belle foto.
The Australian football seems to be lacking in any rule: there are no protections for the players and every member of the team might fling himself on the opponents to take them off the ball or to slow them down. That very day I looked on something like that, here’s some good photos.
Per il barbecue avevamo delle salicce, del pane bianco, della cipolla, un po di olio e della salsa barbecue. Mentre uno di noi cucinava gli altri chiaccheravano. Cose come queste ti fanno sentire meno la lontananza di casa. Grazie Jose’, Oliver, Rosa e Tin.
For the barbecue we had some sausages, some white bread, a bit of oil and some BBQ sauce. While one of us was cooking, the others were chatting. Things like these make you feel less the distance from home. Thanks Jose’, Oliver, Rosa and Tin.

Tree Top Walk
La Tree Top Walk e’ una cosa da fare se si viene in Australia.
Dopo aver lasciato Perth ci siamo diretti ad Albany con il pullman della Transwa che ha impiegato circa 7 ore per arrivare a destinazione. Li c’era una donna con cui ci eravamo messi in contatto giorni prima ad aspettarci, cosi siamo saliti in macchina e ci siamo diretti a casa sua. Per 5 giorni abbiamo lavorato in una proprieta’ a 30 km da Albany, abbiamo badato e nutrito capre, pecore, cavalli e mucche. Il giorno di Pasqua ho dovuto seppellire due capre morte. A parte l’inconveniente, il Wwoofing in Australia e’ la cosa migliore che puo’ accadere a un backpacker: cibo e letto gratis per qualche ora di lavoro al giorno.
Dopo 5 giorni abbiamo preso di nuovo il pullman diretti a Walpole. Appena arrivati abbiamo lasciato gli zaini nella nostra camera e ci siamo fatti portare in macchina dalla proprietaria alla Tree Top Walk per 20 dollari. L’ingresso ci e’ costato 12,5 dollari a testa e anche se in mezz’ora si riesce a vedere tutto quanto, ci siamo fermati per un ora per fare foto e goderci il panorama.
The Tree Top Walk is a must if you come to Australia.
After we left Perth we have headed to Albany with the Transwa pullman that took about 7 hours to get to destination. When we arrived there was a woman waiting for us who we had contacted several days before our arrival, so we jumped in the car and we headed to her house. For five days we have worked in a property 30 km from Albany, we have looked after and feeded goats, sheeps, horses and cows. The Easter day I had to bury two dead goats. Despite the inconvenience, Wwoofing in Australia remains the best thing that can happen to a backpacker: free meals and a free bed just for some hours of work.
After 5 days we have taken again the TransWa pullman headed to Walpole. As soon as we have arrived we have left the backpacks in our room and we have been taken by car to the Tree Top Walk by the owner of the hostel for 20 dollars. The admission’s cost was 12,5 $ each one and even if in half hour you are able to see everything, we took a hour to take some photos and enjoy the landscape.
La massima altezza che raggiunge il percorso su cui si cammina e’ di 42 metri. Se la giornata e’ bella, il panorama che sarete in grado di vedere e’ stupendo. La cosa brutta se soffrite di vertigini e’ che tutto il percorso si muove mentre camminate.
The maximum highness that the path you walk on reaches is 42 mt. If the day is bright, the landscape you might see is beautiful. The bad thing if you suffer from dizziness is that all the trail shakes while you walk.

Abbiamo avuto la possibilita’ di entrare in alcuni tronchi.
Erano cosi’ alti che si faceva fatica a vedere la punta. Uno in particolare aveva una cavita’ tanto larga da poter contenere molte persone al suo interno. La cosa strana era che una volta entrati nella cavita’, tutti i suoni della foresta sparivano come se fossero stati assorbiti dall’albero.
We have had the possibility to enter in some trunks.
They were so high that we hardly were able to see the top. One of those had a cavity so huge to be able to contain several people insde its hole. The strange thing was that once in the hole, all the surrounding sounds of the forest disappeared as if they were absorbed by the tree.
Dopo la tree top walk siamo tornati a Perth e abbiamo preso un volo diretti ad Adelaide, alla ricerca di un lavoro. Il vento ci ha portato al Kingston on Murray, un piccolo working hostel a Kingston, a 3 ore circa da Adelaide, dove siamo rimasti per due mesi. Il vento tirava forte quel giorno.
After the tree top walk we came back to Perth and we took a flight headed to Adelaide, looking for some work. The wind took us to Kingston on Murray, a little working hostel in Kingston, about 3 hours from Adelaide, where we have been stayed for 2 months. The wind was striking hard that day.
Perth
Anche se siamo rimasti in Perth solo per 4 giorni, ci e’ piaciuta tanto.
Ci sono un sacco di spazi verdi, parchi, il centro e’ stupendo e le costruzioni sono diverse rispetto alle altre citta’. Un giorno siamo stati in una via che sembrava uscita dal medioevo, molto stretta, con bancarelle molto vicine fra loro e palazzi che mi ricordavano l’europa.
Even if we stayed in Perth only for 4 days, we liked it a lot.
There are a lot of green areas, parks, the city center is amazing and the buildings are different from the other australian cities. One day we have been in a street that seemed to belong to middle age, a very narrow one, with shops really close to eachother and buildings that reminded me europe.
Un giorno, mentre stavamo camminando per la strada, abbiamo visto dei canguri in lontananza con un sacco di persone e bambini attorno a loro. Le statue sono fatto cosi bene che da lontano sembrano reali.
One day, while we were walking in the street, we saw some kangaroos far away with a lot of people and kids around them. The statues have been so well made that from a long distance they seem to be real.
I voli in australia sono abbastanza costosi, ma se prenotate mesi prima i prezzi possono essere davvero bassi. Il mio consiglio e’ di pianificare bene il viaggio, prenotare tutto prima senza lasciare nulla al caso, perche’ se vi sucedera’ come noi che abbiamo cercato un ostello a Perth solo il giorno prima di arrivare in citta’, probabilmente finirete in un ostello sporco, mal gestito, dove girano i topi durante la notte e dove i servizi sono scadenti, perche’ tutti gli altri saranno gia’ occupati.
The flights in australia are quite expensive, but if you book months earlier the prices might be really cheap. My advice is to plan in the best way you’re able to your travel, to book all before leaving nothing to the case, because otherwise something could happen to you, like it did to us, that we had looked for a hostel in Perth the day before we arrived, and we ended in a bad hostel, dirty, bad organised, where rats were crawling on the ground during the night and the service were the worst I ever met, because the good hostels were already taken.
Lasciato Perth, ci siamo spostati ad Albany e poi di nuovo ad Adelaide, dove siamo rimasti un giorno per poi prendere un pullman ( 50 $, circa tre ore ) per Kingston, diretti all’ostello “Kingston on Murray” .
Once we left Perth, we moved to Albany and then back to Adelaide, where we stayed for one day just to take the day after a pullman ( 50 $, about 3 hours ) headed to Kingston, to “Kingston on Murray” hostel .
Wellington
Se sei un backpacker sai quanto vale una buona connessione wifi,quanto e’ dura trovarla,perche’ se devi caricare dalle 30 alle 60 foto in un blog ci vogliono ore,e dato che il giorno e’ troppo importante per passarlo su un maledetto pc a caricare foto,lo fai di notte,sacrificando il sonno e rovinandoti il giorno dopo.Ma il risultato mi sembra buono.
If you are a backpacker you know how much a good wifi connection worths,how is hard to find one,because if you have to upload fromm 30 to 60 photos in a blog it takes hours,and given that the day is too important to waste it on a bloody laptop uploading photos,you do that during night,sacrifying your rest and the next day.But the result seems pleasant to my eye,arr!
Wellington e’ stupenda,abbastanza piccola come citta’ ma c’e’ tutto il necessario,c’e’ il mare,l’aria e’ fresca,la gente amichevole,i trasporti costano poco e portano ovunque,ci sono locali per i giovani,e un cinema enorme dove ho visto due film bellissimi in uno schermo enorme,con un audio incredibile.
Wellington is beautiful,such a small city but there’s all you need,the sea,the air is fresh,people is friendly,the transports don’t cost so much and take you everywhere,there are places for young people,and a big cinema where I have seen two amazing movies in a huge screen,with an incredible sound.
I primi giorni abbiamo girato a piedi per la citta’,ma la prima mattina siamo stati al museo Te Papa.Molto bello e molto interessante,di solito mi annoio nei musei ma questo e’ molto ben organizzato,il materiale all’interno e’ interessante sia per i bambini che per gli adulti,l’ingresso e’ gratuito,e c’e’ una linea wifi gratuita a cui potete connettervi nella sala principale.Ecco alcune foto:
The first days we have walked around the city,but the very first morning we have been at Te Papa Museum.Usually I get really bored in the museums,but this one is really well organized,the inside stuff is interesting both for children and adults,there’s no ticket to get in and there’s a free wifi connession in whick you may connect in the main hall.Here’s some photos:

The city is really beautiful,the view of the sea even more,but the water is really cold,but who lives here seem to not be interested,and every now and then there’s someone diving from the dock.

Really close to the sea there are bar,restaurants,shops and playgrounds for kids.

I uploaded this house because it seemed to much to be the Up house from Dreamworks,so tiny and elegant among the skyscrapers.

L’ultimo giorno,non sapendo cosa fare,siamo andati allo zoo (circa 20 NZ $) e fino in cima a una collina di wellington prendendo il Cable Car,andata e ritorno e’ costato poco piu’ di sei dollari neozelandesi,anche se il viaggio dura solo un paio di minuti ne vale la pena,la vista e il viaggio in se sono molto belli.Ecco alcune foto dello zoo:
The last day,given that we didn’t know what to do,we have been to the zoo (about 20 NZ $) and tull the top of one Wellington’s hill taking the Cable Car,to go and to be back we paid about six NZ dollars,even if the trip lasts only a couple of minutes it worth the shot,the view and the trip itself are really good.Here’s some photos of the zoo:

In una via del centro di Wellington potete prendere la Cable car che vi porterà’ in cima a una collina in pochi minuti,
il costo e’ di circa 6 dollari,ma il panorama e’ davvero bello.
In a street in the centre of Wellington you can take the Cable Car that will bring you to the top of one hill in a couple of minutes,the cost is about 6 dollars,but the landscape is really beautiful.
Rotorua
After some days in Auckland we took a bus to Rotorua with “Naked Bus”,really cheap,something like 29 dollars,and in four hours we got to this little city.There are a lot of things to see and many more to enjoy with,like rafting,bunjee jumping,sky diving and much more,but we decided to spend our two days there seeing the natural sulfur spring,the maori people and to laze a bit inside a spa.All the tours cost around 210 dollars,60 of them was for a dinner in a Maori restaurant that ended with a show and a typical Maori dance,it has absolutely worth the price,the food was amazing,a self service all you can eat with everything,from meat to fish,oysters to vegetable to cakes and sweeties,it seems ordinary dishes but all tasted perfectly.The morning of the first day we have been at Hell’s Gate and Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland (65 $) and we have reached the location with the Hell’s Gate shuttle,while for the return there was the Waiotapu Return Transport.You can plan and book everything in the information centre of Rotorua.Here’s Hell’s Gate.
Dopo qualche giorno a Auckland abbiamo preso un bus per Rotorua con “Naked Bus”,davvero economico,qualcosa come 29 dollari,e in quattro ore siamo arrivati in questa piccola citta’.Ci sono molte cose da vedere e molte di piu’ con cui divertirsi,come rafting,bunjee jumping,paracadutismo e molte altre ancora,ma noi abbiamo deciso di spendere il nostro tempo vedendo le fonti sulfuree naturali,i maori e oziare un po all’interno di una spa.Tutti i tour sono costati circa 210 dollari,60 dei quali per una cena in un ristorante Maori che e’ terminata con uno show e una danza tipica Maori,la serata passata li e’ valsa il costo,il cibo era incredibile,un self service in cui si poteva mangiare tutto quello che si voleva,c’era di tutto,dalla carne al pesce,dalle ostriche alle verdure alle torte e ai dolci,sembrano piatti comuni ma tutto aveva un sapore perfetto.La mattina del primo giorno siamo stati all’Hell’s Gate e al Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland (65 $) e siamo arrivati li con un lo shuttle della Hell’s gate (20$) mentre per il ritorno c’era il Waiotapu Return Transport (50 $).Potete pianificare e prenotare tutto all’ufficio informazioni di Rotorua.Ecco Hell’s Gate.
Inside the park there was a Maori carpenter that gave you a little wooden square you could carve with some proper tools,here’s my first try result.
All’interno del parco c’era un falegname Maori che ti dava un piccolo quadrato di legno che si poteva intagliare con degli appositi strumenti,ecco il risultato del mio primo tentativo.
In lakes like that the water temperature was over one hundred degrees.
In laghi come questi la temperatura dell’acqua superava i cento gradi.
At night we decided to go in a spa to laze for a while,the cost of the ticket was 26 dollars and the available pools had the water temperature between 36 and 40 degrees,the building closed at eleven pm,until eight pm are also available massages of each type (but they start from 80 $).
La sera abbiamo deciso di andare in un centro termale a oziare un po,il costo del biglietto era 26 dollari e le piscine disponibili erano 5 e l’acqua di ognuna oscillava fra i 36 e 40 gradi,la struttura chiudeva alle undici di sera,fino alle otto di sera erano disponibili anche massaggi di ogni tipo (ma partivano da un minimo di 80 $).
The day after we have gone to the spa we have been to the Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland,in the morning a shuttle took us up in front of the hostel and after twenty minutes we arrived at destination ,the whole route around the park took about one hour,nice,but now I would do something different,like sky diving or one of the other stunning typical attraction in Rotorua.
Il giorno dopo essere andati al centro termale siamo stati Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland,la mattina una navetta ci e’ venuta a prendere di fronte all’ostello e dopo venti minuti siamo arrivati a destinazione,l’intero percorso attorno al parco e’ durato circa un’ora,carino,ma col senno di poi farei qualcosa di differente,come paracadutismo o una delle incredibili attività di Rotorua.
The geyser you’re looking at is one of the most famous attraction of the park.During the little show the guide while he was giving some details,threw some chemical compound inside the geyser and in a couple of minutes it has blown up spreading water and steam all over.
Il geyser che state vedendo e’ una delle attrazioni più’ famose del parco.Durante il piccolo show,la guida mente stava fornendo alcune dettagli,ha lanciato qualche composto chimico all’interno del geyser e in un paio di minuti e’ esploso spargendo acqua e vapore dappertutto.
This lake takes its name thanks to his extravagant colours given by a high amount of sulfur and other chemicals.
Il lago prende il nome dai suoi colori stravaganti dati da una grande quantità di zolfo e altre sostanze chimiche.
Green means a really high amount of sulphur in the water,amazing colour.
Il colore verde indica una concentrazione davvero alta di zolfo nell’acqua,colore stupendo.
This was some kind of Maori temple,but to get in we needed first of all to take off our shoes and more important,
to book before we got there.
Questo era un qualche tipo di tempio Maori,ma per entrare dovevamo prima di tutto toglierci le scarpe e più importante,

After an afternoon spent in the park,with a bad smell of rotten eggs all over,we have gone for the evening in a Maori restaurant,Matariki was the name,after dinner the maori performed a dance in the stage in front of the tables.For a total cost of 60 $ we have had a wonderful dinner,a self service all you can eat with all kind of meals (but the matter is that all was delicious) and a really interesting maori show.
Dopo aver passato un pomeriggio nel parco,con un odore orribile di uovo marcio dappertutto,la sera siamo andati in un ristorante Maori,Matariki era il nome del posto,dopo cena i Maori si sono esibiti in uno spettacolo nel palco di fronte ai tavoli.Per un costo totale di 60 $ abbiamo avuto una cena meravigliosa,era organizzata a self service e si poteva mangiare tutto quello che si voleva (ma l’importante e’ che era tutto delizioso) e uno spettacolo Maori davvero interessante.
That’s a typical Maori expression that they are used to utilise during shows but its root are deep,it was used during fights or hunting,to scare the opponent or the preys.
Questa e’ una tipica espressione Maori che sono abituati a usare durante gli spettacoli ma le sue radici sono profonde,era utilizzata durante i combattimenti o la caccia,per spaventare gli avversari o le prede.
At the end of the show all people have been asked to get on the stage and to try doing what they did.
Alla fine dello spettacolo a tutte le persone e’ stato chiesto di salire sul palco e provare a fare quello che facevano loro.

Auckland
Two days ago we suddenly decided to leave Adelaide because to renew our Medicare card we had to go out and come back in,because medicare can’t extend the insurance for more than six months,so we thought why not?With 360 dollars of ticket (one way) from Adelaide to Auckland and another from Wellington to Melbourne that did cost 250 dollars we have left Australia.Today we book a flight from Melbourne to Perth so our travel can go on!
Due giorni fa abbiamo improvvisamente deciso di lasciare Adelaide perché’ per rinnovare la nostra tessera di Medicare dovevamo uscire e tornare in Australia,perché’ Medicare non può’ estendere l’assicurazione per più’ di sei mesi,così’ abbiamo pensato perché’ no?Con 360 dollari di biglietto (sola andata) da Adelaide a Auckland e un altro da Wellington a Melbourne che e’ costato 250 dollari abbiamo lasciato l’Australia.Oggi prenotiamo un volo da Melbourne a Perth così il nostro viaggio può continuare!

We had so many choices in Auckland,so much to see and not so much time.
After a promenade in the city we decided to reach to the top of Mt Eden,we just had to take a bus (1.80 dollars,really cheap) and after we went out we walked for ten minutes along a road and then along a path in the middle of the green grass.All Auckland has been built between several volcanos and Mt Eden is the tallest,the best natural point lookout of the entire city,have a look.
Avevamo così tante scelte ad Auckland,così tanto da vedere e così poco tempo.
Dopo una camminata nella città abbiamo deciso di raggiungere la cima del monte Eden,abbiamo solo dovuto prendere un bus (1,80 dollari,davvero economico) e dopo essere scesi abbiamo camminato per dieci minuti lungo una strada e poi abbiamo percorso un sentiero in mezzo al prato.Tutta Auckland e’ stata costruita in mezzo a più vulcani e il monte Eden e’ il più alto,il miglior punto di osservazione naturale di tutta la città,date un’occhiata.

After seeing that,we decided to go to the dock,staring at the sea for a while and then be headed to the Skytower,and go on it!If you are backpackers or students and you can prove it,you will get 8 dollars less on the ticket’s price.When you will be on the top you might also decide to jump off in a breathtaking bungee jumping,the tower levels are 192 mt the first and almost 200 the second,and if you will be hungry there is also a restaurant in the middle level with a beautiful view of the city.And do not miss the stuff taken from Lord of the rings at the base of the tower!
Dopo aver visto il Monte Eden,abbiamo deciso di andare al molo,osservare il mare per un po e poi dirigerci alla Skytower,e salirci sopra!Se siete backpackers o studenti e potrete dimostrarlo avrete uno sconto di 8 dollari.Quando sarete sulla cima potrete anche decidere di saltare giù in un mozzafiato bungee jumping,i livelli della torre sono di 192 metri il primo e quasi 200 mt il secondo,e se avete fame disposto su un livello intermedio c’e’ anche un ristorante con vista sulla città’.E non perdetevi le cose ispirate al signore degli anelli in vendita e esposizione alla base della torre!

At the first level of the tower (192 mt) you can step on these glass bricks,it’s absolutely safe they say,but try to walk on it without grabbing something or without your hearth running like hell.
Al primo piano della torre (192 mt) si può camminare su alcune piccole porzioni di pavimento fatte in vetro,dicono sia assolutamente sicuro,ma provate a camminarci sopra senza aggrapparvi a qualcosa o senza che il vostro cuore batta a mille all’ora.

With a proper rope tied from your body to the tower,you can walk outside,beyond the glass,right in the footbridge you see.
Con una corda adeguatamente legata al tuo corpo e fissata alla torre,puoi camminare fuori,aldilà del vetro,proprio nella passerella che vedi.
Since we landed in New Zealand we are staying at the Base Backpackers,it’s a Hostel that is everywhere in Australia and New Zealand,quite cheap and comfortable,and you can get really good prices or ticket at low prices for transports and things like that,but the wifi is quite slow if you want to upload photos,but it’s great for Skype.As last advice,I suggest everyone to hire a car or a campervan if you want to see NZ (Jucy is really good: http://www.jucy.co.nz/ )OR travel with Naked Bus:http://nakedbus.com/nz/bus/

Kangaroo Island Seal Bay
The second day we have spent in Kangaroo Island we have driven to Seal Bay starting from the hostel in Kingscote,40-50 min by car.The most interesting thing there is over there is a tour across the seaside(15 dollars to be allowed to walk till the point lookout without guide-30 dollars to be taken by the guide to the seaside among the sea lions,moreover you will have the possibility to go to the point lookout by yourself),the place is crowed by sea lions that rest there after have come across the sea towards the south pole,three days to go and three more to come back,all without any stop or any meal,then after a lump sum of food they come back where they left,and they lay down on the seaside,sleeping for days.
Il secondo giorno che abbiamo passato a Kangaroo Island siamo andati a Seal Bay partendo dall’ostello di Kingscote,40-50 min in macchina.La cosa più’ interessante da vedere che c’e’ laggiù’ e’ un tour attraverso la spiaggia,(15 dollari per poter accedere al punto di osservazione senza bisogno della guida-30 dollari per poter essere accompagnati dalla guida fino in spiaggia,e poter camminare fra i leoni marini,più’ la possibilità’ di andare al punto di osservazione )il posto e’ affollato da leoni marini che riposano qui dopo aver attraversato il mare in direzione del polo sud,tre giorni di viaggio per l’andata e tre per il ritorno,senza alcuna sosta per mangiare o riposarsi,poi,dopo aver fatto scorta di cibo tornano da dove sono partiti,e si accasciano sulla spiaggia,dormendo per giorni.

We have been told to not get closer to female sea lions because if a male notice someone getting closer to them,he will chase the threat to defeat it:a grown male weighs about 400 kg,you wouldn’t like a beast like that jumping on you,that’s the reason because we had to visit the seaside as a group and not alone,the single one could be attacked anytime.
Ci e’ stato detto di non avvicinarci troppo alle femmine di leone marino perché’ se un maschio se ne accorgesse,correrebbe incontro alla minaccia per affrontarla:un maschio adulto pesa circa 400 kg,non vorresti che una bestia del genere ti saltasse addosso,questa e’ la ragione per la quale abbiamo dovuto visitare la spiaggia in gruppo e non da soli,il singolo può’ essere attaccato in qualsiasi momento.
In one day and a half we have been able to see all the interesting things there were in the island,there is a lot of advertising about Kangaroo Island and for that reason I expected much more,is a beautiful place,but all the costs like plane or pullman and boat,hire a car,hostel and organised tours,comes really high for some days,but at the end it has been a wonderful experience.
In un giorno e mezzo siamo stati capaci di vedere tutte le cose interessanti che c’erano nell’isola,c’e un sacco di pubblicità’ su Kangaroo Island e mi aspettavo molto di più’,e’ un posto meraviglioso,ma tutti i costi come l’aereo o il pullman e il traghetto,affittare una macchina,l’ostello e i tour organizzati,arrivano a essere una spesa abbastanza elevata per solo qualche giorno,ma tutto sommato e’ stata un’esperienza meravigliosa.
Kangaroo Island Kingscote
The map shows the movements we have done on kangaroo island,B stands for beginning,from there we rented a car with Hertz,100 km allowed by day then 0,25 dollard every km,and we drove till Kingscote where we have 2 nights in the hostel,then the second day we have been to Sealbay and to Emu bay,then back to hostel.
La mappa mostra i nostri movimenti su kangaroo island,B sta per partenza,da li abbiamo affittato una macchina con Hertz,100 km al giorno consentiti poi 0,25 dollari per ogni km in piu’,e da li abbiamo guidato fino a Kingscote dove abbiamo dormito 2 notti in ostello,il secondo giorno siamo andati a Sealbay e a Emu bay,poi indietro fino all’ostello.
Yesterday we arrived in Kangaroo Island with a little boat,we could chose among that and a little plane,but this one was too expensive.So in two hours of bus and 1 of boat we got to the island.The first thing we have done once on the island has been to hire a car:the closest one was Hertz,it’s bloody expensive,but for two days is acceptable.With the car we have left the arrival point and we have done something like 40 km in the middle of nowhere to reach Kingscote,the closest biggest city.There isn’t a cinema nor a nightclub,and from 4/5pm o’clock the city seems to be the set of The day after tomorrow,we have met 20 people and we have walked all over the city.But the seaside is amazing,it has a beautiful water and a relaxing silence,and moreover here I ate the best fish and pizza in 6 months of australia:the fish in a place close to a fuel station,his name appears in the lonely planet as best choice,here you can eat a lot of fish,from fried to raw one,and prices are really cheap.The pizza place is quite little but the pizza tastes wonderful,and here you can also eat during lunch italian recipes as lasagne or cannelloni,his name is “Bella” and you can find it too in the Lonely planet.We are now staying in a wonderful hostel for 2 nights,Kangaroo Island Central Hostel,it seems to be in a bit family because of the way is built and organised.
Ieri siamo arrivati su Kangaroo Island con un treghetto,potevamo scegliere fra quello e un piccolo aereo,ma abbiamo optato per il bus e il traghetto dato che l’aereo era troppo costoso.Cosi’ in 2 ore di bus e 1 di traghetto siamo arrivati sull’isola. La prima cosa che abbiamo fatto e’ stato cercare una macchina da noleggiare:Hertz era il piu’ vicino,e’ maledettamente costoso ma per due giorni si puo’ fare. Con la macchina abbiamo lasciato il punto di arrivo e abbiamo fatto circa 40 km in mezzo al nulla,per arrivare a Kingscote,la citta’ piu’ vicina e piu’ grande.Non c’e un cinema o una discoteca,e dalle 4/5 di pomeriggio la citta’ sembra essere il set de L’alba del giorno dopo,abbiamo incontrato solo 20 persone camminando tutto il giorno per la citta’.Ma la spiaggia e’ stupenda,con un acqua favolosa e un silenzio rilassante,e in piu’ qui ho mangiato il migliore pesce e la migliore pizza provati in 6 mesi in australia:il pesce in un posto vicino a un benzinaio,il suo nome compare sul lonely planet come miglior scelta,qui puoi mangiare un sacco di pesce,dal fritto al crudo,e i prezzi sono davvero bassi.La pizzeria e’ abbastanza piccola ma la pizza e’ buonissima,e qui per pranzo potete mangiare anche piatti italiani come lasagne o cannelloni,il nome del posto e’ “Bella” e potete trovare anche questo sul Lonely Planet.Ora siamo in un ostello per due notti,Kangaroo Island central hostel,sembra di essere in una grande famiglia per il modo in cui e’ costruito e organizzato.
Yesterday for the night we have joined to a organized route along a path in which the guide showed us the nests and the little penguins,30/35 cm, using a red light (because the penguins eyes’ can’t perceive the red colour)following the noises and looking in the nests,17 dollars for the museum of the aussie fishes and for the guide,but it has worth.
Ieri sera abbiamo partecipato a una visita guidata lungo un sentiero,in cui con una luce rossa (perche’ l’occhio del pinguino non percepisce il colore rosso) la guida cercava i pinguini nani,circa 30-35 cm,seguendo i rumori o cercando nelle tane,17 dollari fra museo e guida,ma e’ stato divertente.
Adelaide
Yesterday we left Melbourne for Adelaide,a cheap flight with Jetstar,1 hour and 10 minutes and here we are.We actually are at Backpack Oz hostel,27 dollars by night and the wireless,breakfast and bicycles free all the days.Today thanks to all this kindness we have gone from Adelaide city to the seaside with two bikes,something like 30-35 km.
Ieri abbiamo lasciato Melbourne per Adelaide,un volo economico con Jetstar,1 ora e 10 minuti e eccoci qui.Per ora siamo all’ostello Backpack Oz,27 dollari a notte con internet wireless,colazione e biciclette gratis tutti i giorni.Oggi grazie a tutta questa gentilezza siamo andati da Adelaide centro fino alla spiaggia con due biciclette,qualcosa come 30-35 km.
Even if neither Lonely Planet seems to know what there is to have fun in Adelaide,is a beautiful city,really relaxing,nothing compared to the rush there is in Melbourne or Sydney.
Anche se nemmeno il Lonely Planet sembra sapere cosa ci sia per divertirsi ad Adelaide,e’ una città’ stupenda,veramente rilassante,niente a confronto con la fretta che hanno a Melbourne o a Sydney.

Today was sunny,and this huge park along the river was amazing.
Oggi c’era il sole,e questo enorme parco accanto al fiume era stupendo.
The river was crowed of animals,birds and most of all black swans,they are really everywhere here.
Il fiume era affollato di animali,uccelli e soprattutto cigni neri,sono davvero dappertutto qui.
Too little,but fast and smooth,useful to backstab a black swan.It’s not racism,the white ones were missing.

At the end of the park there was a dam with a little bridge,but given that we had been told to follow the river to get to the seaside (…)

Adelaide is a really good city,really relaxing,but there’s not much to see,even Lonely Planet doesn’t know what to suggest.
If you like night life,parties,surf and big festival all over the city,don’t come here.
It’s more relaxing,there’s inner peace here,nothing like Melbourne or Sydney,here something that we liked in the city centre.
Adelaide e’ una bella città’,veramente rilassante,ma non c’e’ molto da vedere,anche il Lonely Planet non sa cosa dire.
Se vi piace la vita notturna,grandi feste,surf e grandi festival per tutta la città’,non venite qui.

Melbourne Moomba Festival
As soon as we have come out from Flinder Station we noticed that all the city was more crowed than usual,in the weeks we have spent here has seemed that Melbourne is really well organised,perhaps more than Sidney itself,for example from hoddles creek every sunday we just had to buy on the bus for train station a “Sunday Saver” ticket (3.50 au$) and it worthed all the day long for buses and trains for and from Melbourne (zone 1 and 2)
Appena usciti dalla Flinder Station abbiamo notato che tutta la citta’ era piu’ affollata del solito,nelle settimane che abbiamo passato qui e‘ sembrato che Melbourne sia molto ben organizzata,forse piu‘ di Sydeny,per esempio da hoddles creek dove viviamo,ogni domenica dovevamo solo prendere un ticket sul bus che da casa andava verso la stazione per Melbourne,un biglietto “Sunday Saver”(3,50 au $) e valeva tutto il giorno per bus e treni da e per Mlebourne (zone 1 e 2)
That day there was a competition,so we stopped some minutes to see what all the crowd was looking at.

Close to the Yarra River there were a lot of carousels and jousts,little shops with candies or ethnic food,toys and many more prizes.
We wanted Kermit,but at the end we only get a little shark.

The 17th we’ll leave Melbourne and for about one month we travel all around Australia,the route will be Adelaide,Kangaroo Island,Perth,the meridional forests,with 46 mt trees in which you can climb,then we stop in a property in which they give you meals and a place to rest in exchange to looking after to joeys 4 hours by day,little orphan puppies of kangaroos,then Alice Springs,Uluru,Cairns where we will do snorkeling,we take a train that moves upon the forest,a baloon flying upon gold coast,frayser island,then Sydney,abu dhabi and Milan.So,stay tuned.
A maggio o giugno lasciamo Melbourne e per circa un mese giriamo tutta l’australia,le mete decise sono Adelaide,Kangaroo Island,Perth,le foreste meridionali dove ci sono alberi di 46 metri sopra i quali si puo’ salire,poi andiamo in una proprieta’ dove danno vitto e alloggio in cambio di 4 ore di lavoro in cui si deve badare,nutrire e pulire piccoli orfani di canguro,poi Alice Springs,Uluru,Cairns dove si fa snorkeling,si prende un treno sospeso sulla foresta,una mogolfiera sopra la gold coast,frayser island,poi Sydney,abu dhabi e Milano.Quindi,continuate a seguire il blog.
Melbourne
Two weeks ago we have been in Melbourne,there was a festival all over the city with little ethnic food shops,buskers,and a big luna park built for the festival.We also entered in Melbourne Luna Park,the main gate is beautiful.You do not pay for entering but for every ride you do.
Due settimane fa siamo stati a Melbourne,c’era un festival per tutta la citta’,con bancarelle di cibo etnico,e un grosso luna park costruito per il festival.Siamo anche entrati nel luna park di Melbourne,il portone d’ingresso e’ bellissimo.Non si paga l’ingresso ma ogni corsa sulle giostre che si fa.
That day there was a big festival with a lot of artists all around the city,we stopped fore some minutes to stare at a gym girl.
Quel giorno c’era un grande festival e tanti artisti in tutta la città’,noi ci siamo fermati ad osservare una ginnasta per qualche minuto.
During festivals there’s always something to enjoy with,like ethnic food,candies,toys,jousts and carousels and much more.

I haven’t had much time to care about the blog in the last few weeks,I’m working in an apple factory from one month,if you are backpackers and you are in Victoria,close to melbourne,be aware that from monday Battunga Apples in Hoddles Creek is looking for 30 backpackers for fruit picking. After three month working in Mullumbimby in New South Wales I just would like to travel all around Australia,a backpack on my back and nothing more then that,by the way if you are looking for a good backpack Blackwolf is amazing,I bought one two weeks ago and it as everything I need,if you want to check it out here’s the site: http://bagworld.com.au If you are planning to leave your country for an experience in Oz working and studying I’ll give you some tips,I didn’t know how to do to organize,my first month here has been really a mess,but when you figure it out and you get used to overhere’s life,all become simplier. If you want to work 3 months in a farm to get a second year working holiday student visa (be aware that you won’t be paied,but you’ll have meals and a bad for free,BUT you also have to be lucky as I haven’t been,because a lot of people you’ll work for will try to take advantage of you,and they could give you cheap or expired food,but the family I’m living now with is amazing,really gentle and pleasant,as I said,you have to be lucky)just type on facebook or google “wwoofer australia”,and you’ll find their site,in which you will be able to purchase a book with all the names of the farmers in Australia and Tasmania,all divided by region (victoria,new south wales,queensland ecc)with details of the job they need,the amount of workers they need and for how log,their address,emails and telephone numbers.The farms that allow you to get a second visa will have PP written on right down corner,at the end of the description,easy. From now on I’ll start to write both in english and italian,for my parents and my lazy friends. Da ora in poi iniziero’ a scrivere sia in inglese che in italiano,sia per i miei genitori che per i miei amici che non hanno il tempo per tradurre due righe in inglese. 
Here some photos the day before we left Sydney,we had some amazing pieces of cake and fish and chips bought in bondi beach,close to where I used to live,then we went sitting in bondi beach park,in front of the seaside and sufers,and we started throwing food to seagulls.What a cranky bastard animal it is,it would do everithing for a little piece of food. Ecco qualche foto del giorno prima che lasciassimo Sydney,abbiamo comprato del fish & chips buonissimo a bondi beach,vicino all’appartamento dove vivevo,poi siamo andati a sederci nel parco a bondi beach,di fronte alla spiaggia e ai surfisti,e abbiamo iniziato a tirare cibo ai gabbiani.Che animale incazzato e bastardo che e’,per un pezzo di cibo farebbe di tutto. 
Darling Harbour
Yesterday I have been in darling harbour,I wanted also to reach the luna park but at the end was too far walking,and the sun too hot!I have reached darling harbour by bondi beach where I’m actually living first by bus till bondi junction and then from there I took the metro till central station,and step by step (took a long long time,mostly with the sun striking in my hairless head) I got there,but if you don’t want to walk too much from central you can walk till george street and from there you can take the bus 555,it won’t go straight to darling harbour,but it will get really close.And it’s free.Easy 🙂
Once in darling harbour I have been in the hard rock cafe shopping centre,but the shirt costed too much for me (I have been in miami,new york,niagara falls,washington and los angeles in august and al the hard rock t-shirts costed 25 $,against the 44 of sydney)
I took something to eat for lunch and I went sitting right in front to the hard rock,close to the water and ships,where were a lot of angry,hungry seagulls.I drop 2 pieces of honey chicken (oriental recipe I guess,delicious,but too sweet after some bites)and a white shiver suddently moved around me,screaming and fighting like they were starving from months.Ten seconds and all the food disappeared.
Bondi beach
After three months of junkie posts Im back with something nicer to say,and better photos,also thanks to my new purchase,a canon eos 5D mark II with a 24-105 L lens,I hope you will enjoy photos as much as Im doing,here some shots:
My flat is in 86 blair street,5 minutes walk by bondi beach.With sunny days like that would be a shame not go to the beach!
The camera and the lens together are amazing,with the right timing you can take wonderful picture
This is a swimming pool really close to bondi beach,the safest way to be in water avoiding sharks and jellyfishes,when the ocean is really upset waves are so high that come straight to the pool!
White shepard
We have 13 white shepards running around the property,barking and playing all the day,in spite of the raining day playing with this puppies is an endless joy 🙂
We have called the only red hair one Chewbacca (like the star wars monster friend of Han Solo)
She is the fattest and the clumsiest among all the puppies!
Even if they are only one month and a half old they are getting smarter and smarter,they can even recognize their names,and sometimes they surprise you with very funny behaviours.
Music festival
Last weekend all the streets of Mullumbimby crowded by people of every age,someone was dressed in a funny way,and there were a lot of buildings in which music came through reaching the streets of Mullum.
Happiness,smiles and hippies everywhere!
Here it is the most funny bus in Australia!During the weekend you can rent this bus for all the day,and the driver won’t stop until you ask to!
“It’s full!It’s full!Full of hippies!”said the driver.
Rag doll
The funny name of that kind of cats comes from the fact that,if you pick up one grown cat or a kitten,all his legs and arms fall like the ones of a rag doll (bambola di pezza)
At the moment we have 3 kittens and 7 big cats,Mama cat included!
The face of that cat is relly stunning,it’s a pity I can’t take the photos of all the other cats,but they still are too scared too get too close to them
That kitten is the one that plays more with us,every time we enter in her pen she looks for us to play or to be petted.
Land
Yesterday I have gone to a wonderful party,organised from a woman in his huge property!We drove 5 minutes in the path of her land to reach the house!It was incredile inside,all the guests had to bring something to eat,everything was delicious.
The handle of the door is really nice,all the stuff in the house remind to buddhism.
As soon as you cross the door you see this picture in front of you,the Dalai Lama.
On the left there was the dining room,on the right the kitchen.
The owner has built her house by her own,her and his husband,as for the other little houses for ren tin the property.Built with sweat and love.
The sitting room turned on after a while,with all the guests that were able that started play an instrument in the little theatre.
Up in the sitting room there was a flag,dancing with the music.
There are two verandas,each one was full of eating guests,the landscape was breathtaking and from there we could see mount Chincogan!
During night,the owner took us with her for a walk around the house,the bathroom worths the whole house.
If you are in doubt for your life,come in australia to study,there are infinite possibilities here,for example a doctor without specialisation could earn 200.000 audollars by year!
